BA CityFlyer

A wholly owned subsidiary of British Airways, BA CityFlyer (www.britishairways.com) transports over one million passengers each year to destinations across the United Kingdom and Europe from its base at London City Airport. The regional airline feeds into British Airways' mainline network, which offers passengers links to destinations around the world.

About BA CityFlyer

BA CityFlyer's operations are primarily based at London City Airport, although the airline's headquarters are found in Didsbury, South Manchester. Another base of operations for BA CityFlyer is Edinburgh Airport. BA CityFlyer's IATA airline designator is DJ, while its ICAO code is CFE. The airline's call sign is "Flyer". As a subsidiary, BA CityFlyer uses the same branding, aircraft livery and logo as British Airways. Its fleet consists of six Embraer 170 and eight Embraer 190 aircraft, with three additional Embraer 190 aircraft added to the fleet in 2014. Eastern Airways operates Saab 2000 aircraft on behalf of BA CityFlyer.

History

BA CityFlyer emerged following the sale of BA Connect to Flybe in 2007. Also headquartered in Manchester, BA Connect operated as a subsidiary of British Airways. Its network included destinations throughout the UK and across Europe, with all flights operated on behalf of British Airways. The sale to the regional airline did not include BA Connect's London City Airport operations and aircraft based at the airport, including 10 Avro RJ100 jets. BA CityFlyer began operating as a wholly owned subsidiary of British Airways in March 2007. By 2009, its fleet of Avro RJ85 and Avro RJ100 aircraft were replaced with modern Embraer airliners.
