About BMI Regional

Since 2012, BMI regional has been owned by Sector Aviation Holdings Ltd. The airline is headquartered in the Pegasus Business Park at East Midlands Airport, while its Operations Control Centre is located at Aberdeen Airport in Scotland. BMI Regional's main hubs are Aberdeen Airport and Bristol Airport. Originally operating under the call sign "Kittiwake", BMI Regional's call sign has been "Midland" since October 2012. The company's IATA airline designator is "BM" and its ICAO designator is BMR. BMI Regional operates a fleet of 14 Embraer 145 (ER4) and four Embraer 135 (ER5) aircraft. The airline employs more than 400 people.


Originally known as Business Air, BMI Regional began operating as a privately owned airline in 1987. In 1997, Business Air was acquired by British Midland International (BMI) and renamed to British Midland Commuter. In 2001, the airline began operating as bmi regional. BMI was sold in April 2012 to the International Airlines Group (IAG), a holding company for British Airways and Iberia. In June 2012, BMI Regional was sold again to Sector Aviation Holdings (SAH) Ltd. and began operating as an independent airline once again.


BMI Regional operates up to 300 flights each week to 20 destinations across Europe. As of March 2014, BMI Regional flies to Aberdeen, Birmingham, Bristol, East Midlands, Manchester, Newcastle and Norwich in the UK. The airline also flies to a number of destinations in continental Europe, including Bremen, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich in Germany, Toulouse in France, Milan in Italy, Brussels in Belgium, Gothenburg in Sweden, and Oslo, Stavanger, Harstad/Narvik and Kristiansund in Norway.

Classes of Service

BMI Regional offers two classes of service. Economy class provides passengers with a selection of complimentary snacks and refreshments throughout the day. When flying before 9:30 a.m., a breakfast service with tea or coffee is offered. At other times, a sandwich or wrap is provided with a selection of hot and cold beverages. Economy class seating features 31-inch seat pitch in a 1-to-2 cabin configuration.

While BMI Regional's business class features similar seating as economy class in terms of space, a number of additional amenities are provided. Business class passengers are treated to complimentary hot meals and snacks, including a hot breakfast on flights departing before 9:30 a.m. Breakfast includes yoghurt, warm bakery items, juice, and tea or coffee. At other times during the day a hot meal is served with a wide selection of wines, tea, coffee and other beverages. Business class also offers a free bar service, extra baggage allowance, access to airport business lounges, and priority seating at the front of the aircraft.
