About Eastern Airways

Eastern Airways provides scheduled services to cities across Scotland, England and Wales. The airline also charters its aircraft to destinations in the UK and Europe for a range of customers, including sports teams, corporate clients and individual groups. The regional airline is based at Humberside Airport in North Lincolnshire. Aberdeen Airport is the airline's largest base, although Eastern Airways also has operating a major operating base at Newcastle Airport. Other operating bases are found at Durham Tees Valley, Leeds Bradford International, Norwich and Southampton airports. The airline's IATA designator is T3 and its ICAO code is EZE. Eastern Airways uses "Eastflight" as its call sign. As of March 2014, the airline's fleet consists of both turboprop and jet planes, including Jetstream 41, Embraer ERJ135, Embraer ERJ145 and Saab 2000 aircraft.

Founded in 1997, Eastern Airways emerged following KLM's decision to cease operations between Humberside Airport and Aberdeen Airport. Eastern's first route was between these two airports. Service expanded following the acquisition of Manchester-based Air Kilroe in 1999. Along with its aircraft, Eastern Airways also took possession of Air Kilroe's operating licence that allowed it to use larger passenger aircraft. Eastern Airways subsequently purchased Air Southwest in 2010, although the airline ceased operations a year later. A majority stake in Eastern Airways was purchased in 2014 by the Bristow Group, a Texas-based company that also operates the British helicopter airline Bristow Helicopters. Also in 2010, Eastern Airways France was established to provide domestic flights within France. The French-based airline is headquartered in Dijon, Burgundy.

Eastern Airways' destinations include Aberdeen, Birmingham, Cardiff, Durham Tees Valley, East Midlands, Humberside, Leeds/Bradford, Newcastle, Norwich, Southampton, Stavanger, Stornoway, and Wick. Eastern also provides air service between Aberdeen and Scatsta in the Shetland Islands on behalf of Bristow Helicopters, primarily for oil workers in the region. Eastern Airways France operates domestic flights within France between Bordeaux, Toulouse and Dijon. Through its partnership with Emirates, Eastern Airways also offers onward connections to destinations in Africa, Asia and the Americas with its partner.
